Better Active Oldham, in partnership with schools across Oldham and the surrounding areas, provides a wide range of high-quality extra-curricular activities—starting from just £4.00 per club, with multi-booking discounts available.

Our goal is to develop pupils’ physical literacy, motor skills, and love for physical activity by offering a diverse mix of sports and activities that help children gain lifelong skills in a fun and inclusive environment.

We’re always open to feedback and can adapt our offer to match the interests and needs of your pupils.

Flexible Payment & Management Options

We make running extra-curricular clubs easy with three simple models:

1. Managed by Better Active Oldham – Parents/carers book and pay directly via our user-friendly online system. Payments can be made termly, half-termly, or per session.
    
2. Managed by the School (parent-funded) – Parents/carers pay the school directly, and registers are shared with our coaches.
    
3. Managed by the School (school-funded) – Schools can use Sports Premium or Pupil Premium funding to cover the cost of clubs.
    

With Better Active Oldham, extra-curricular clubs aren’t just about sport—they’re about creating opportunities for every child to be active, confident, and inspired.

We believe every child deserves a safe, engaging, and positive space to be active during the school day. Through our Positive Playground programme, we transform break and lunchtime into opportunities for fun, inclusion, and development. 

Our dedicated coaches work alongside schools to design tailored activity plans that encourage participation, teamwork, and healthy play.

We provide:

• A bespoke playground design, mapping out dedicated sports and activity zones
• Training for Lunchtime Organisers to help sustain activity long term
• Support in sourcing safe, sustainable, and budget-friendly sports equipment
• A team of qualified, DBS-checked coaches to lead daily sessions
• Coaches arriving 30 minutes before lunch to set up, and staying after to pack away equipment
   

Our Coaches

Our Positive Playground coaches bring energy, expertise, and care to every session. Each coach is:

• Fully DBS-checked and approved
• Safeguarding trained annually
• First aid trained
• NGB qualified in at least one spor

At Better Active Oldham, our qualified coaches deliver high-quality PE and school sport provision to primary schools across Oldham. With experience working with children of all ages and abilities, we support schools by providing structured, engaging lessons that promote physical literacy, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement.

Our sessions are carefully planned and delivered in line with your pupils’ needs. Objectives are set each half-term, with weekly sessions differentiated to ensure every child is supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

We are committed to ensuring all pupils:

• Improve individually through progressive learning
• Achieve the highest possible standards through structured planning and assessment
   

Teacher CPD

We also work alongside teaching staff to support their professional development. By learning directly from our coaches, teachers gain the skills and confidence to plan, deliver, and assess PE lessons independently.
