Our core mission and the key goals driving our work in the community.
Better Active Oldham is a registered charity (1190867) working with young people and adults through sport and education to tackle ongoing issues in our community. We provide a platform that promotes physical and mental health and wellbeing, removing barriers and inspiring positive change through accessible sports and learning opportunities
Better Active Oldham began in 2018 as a small community group with a big ambition — to make a positive difference in our local area. In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we became a registered charity (1190867) to strengthen our work and deepen our impact. Since then, we have used sport and education as powerful tools to engage and inspire, reaching over 3,000 young people through community outreach, school programmes, and local partnerships.
From small beginnings in 2025, our work has gained national attention. We were nominated for two ClubHub awards — a nationally recognised platform for children’s activity providers — and named among the top 100 children’s activity providers nationwide, a huge achievement we’re incredibly proud of.
