Supporting Our Home Education Community

Since joining the home education community three years ago, our local charity has worked to create a welcoming and inclusive space where children and families can connect, learn and enjoy new experiences together.


From weekly activities and short and long-term projects to group trips, our annual Sports Day and special events, we continue to create affordable and accessible opportunities shaped around our growing home education community.

AQA Accredited Learning

Better Active Oldham is a registered AQA Unit Award Scheme Centre (Centre No. 85628), helping home educated children gain recognition for their learning, skills and achievements.


For £29.99 per year, families can register with our centre and access over 23,000 AQA units across a wide range of subjects, interests and practical skills. Children can work towards individual units at their own pace and receive official AQA certificates when successfully completed.


We’ll also be developing our own unique programmes and learning opportunities through the scheme. Get in touch to find out more, register with our centre or discuss which units could be suitable for your child.
